Dove Springs 4kW Solar Installation

This is the Dove Srpings Rec Center in South Austin.  This installation was completed in 2006 for the City of Austin.  It is a grid tie interconnect using 32 sharp 123 Watt panels.  Project installation required 2.5 days.  Take a look the next time you visit the center.  It is visible from the parking lot.

South Padre 53 kW Solar Installation

This installation took one month and was completed in January 2011.  It uses thin film peel and stick laminate.  These can make electricity with ambient (scattered) light instead of direct light and it's flexible with no glass parts or aluminum.  This makes laminate ideally suited for installations where weight is a concern.  The South Padre installation required 403 144W laminate panels.

Laminate is less labour intensive with no roof penetrations and no need for wind load calculations.  Another unique feature of laminate is tolerance to shading.   The gas line shown in the picture does not significantly diminish the panel output power.

Austin 3 kW Solar Installation

One of many residential solar installations.  This grid-tie system required 20 160 Watt Sharp panels.  Austin Energy offers a 50 cent top-up to the federal ITC incentives giving an excellent $3 per watt subsidy to solar PV residential installations.  The austin energy top-up expires Sept 30, 2011.  It's time to get solar today.
